Have you ever imagined that your mind could be connected to the whole universe? Well, our brains are one of the most complex systems, arguably more complicated than any other known system in every galaxy, and that includes different economies and the internet.

The human brain is made up of interconnected neurons that have the ability to process information in a very unique and dynamic way, suggesting the highest degree of complexity. Up to this day, it is the only organ that can not be transplanted from one person to the other.

All of these are reasons why scientists have formed a lot of theories about where our consciousness comes from, or if there’s a possibility that it could be connected to something bigger than one living organism, namely, to this entire universe.

Your Brain Might Work Like a Quantum Computer

Scientists Hint Your Consciousness Might Be Connected to the Whole Universe 2

Researchers at Trinity College Dublin recently found that the human brain might be able to perform quantum computation and act like a quantum computer. This simply means that the brain might possess the principles of quantum physics, such as superposition and entanglement.

In a normal computer, there are bits that we use to manage and process information, and they can only be 1 or 0. However, the superposition properties of quantum computers allow them to be in multiple states at once, now called qubits. While entanglement refers to the qubits having intertwined fates, so if you measure one, you will also know exactly the properties of the other one, called quantum entanglement.

This is their new theory where human brains might be capable of processing in the same way, using tiny particles that will act as qubits. These processes are linked to our consciousness and memory, suggesting that they play a big role in how we think and become aware of ourselves.

Tiny Structures in Your Brain Could Be the Key

This Proves That The Entire Universe Is In Someone’s Mind…SCARY!
This Proves That The Entire Universe Is In Someone’s Mind…SCARY!

The Orch‑OR theory, proposed by Roger Penrose and Stuart Hameroff, states that our consciousness arises from the quantum processes in our brains created by microtubules. These are tiny structures in our brains that might be able to hold quantum states, allowing the mind to work similarly to a quantum computer.

Microtubules are composed of proteins within the brain cells or neurons, and they are part of the exoskeleton and could be considered the structural network. By possessing the properties of superposition and entanglement, these tiny particles might be the secret to how our consciousness is interconnected.

Are We All Connected in a Bigger Way?

Scientists Hint Your Consciousness Might Be Connected to the Whole Universe 3

What all these imply is that if our consciousness arises from quantum processes in the brain, then we might be interconnected with other consciousnesses in other people and animals, or even the whole universe at large, through quantum entanglement.

When people are awake, scientists have also found a weird signal that disappears when they fall asleep. This could be a sign that the particles in the brain are entangled, meaning they are linked in a special way and share the same fate.

This is the final implication of these studies and theories: if the particles in our brain are entangled with each other, mimicking a quantum process, then what if they are interconnected with other particles too, with other people, and the world around them?

This potentially could mean a network of consciousness where are thoughts and the way we think might be part of something much bigger, like a giant web of interconnectedness across the whole universe.

Author's Final Thoughts

Did you know that if you studied both the universe and the brain, you might end up coming to the conclusion that they look and work like each other. So, the idea that our consciousness might be linked to each other, the same way billions of neurons are interconnected in our brain, might not be that crazy after all. If anything, this is a reminder that we still have so much to learn about ourselves and how big life really is beyond this world.
